A fundraising event by the New York Harm Reduction Educators (NYHRE) with Physician, Author, and Public Speaker Gabor Maté.

New York City has been hit by a record number of drug overdose deaths. Drawing on his work with drug-dependent people in Canada, Dr. Gabor Maté, in a talk based on his widely acclaimed book, “In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters with Addiction,” will present his biopsychosocial theory on addiction and discuss how we can approach the issue of drug addiction with compassion.

Proceeds from the event will go to support the NYHRE Holistic Health Program, which helps people improve their quality of life through offering services such as acupuncture, massage, meditation, art and music therapy, and qi gong. Such traditional indigenous health practices are crucial to enhancing self-care efforts in our multicultural community while restoring dignity, humanity, and social connections. Please watch our video (https://vimeo.com/183356134) to learn more about the benefits of these services.
